The Birches Collection
Birch trees. Northwoods. It is almost impossible to think about one without the other.
On all of my northern journeys, I find myself drawn to their gathering places. A peaceful calm washes over me as I wander between their slender trunks wrapped in delicate white paper.
Lime-green tints their crowns as spring buds turn to leaves. The breezes of summer rustle them. Autumn paints them with a warm yellow glow which defies the cool, crisp air.
Whether standing alone or in a grove, birches command attention. Even against the winter world of silent white, birches announce their presence. Close your eyes and listen. You'll hear the faint sounds of peeling bark rattling in the wind.
This collection contains some of my favorite images of a tree which continues to lure me on my northern travels. |
