The Foxes Collection
It is the unexpected gifts in nature which make wildlife photography really rewarding. One such gift was given to me on a spring morning in Northern Ontario shooting along Lake Superior.
Several years earlier I had photographed a red fox den with two parents and four pups. On this morning, I returned to the den to find the hillside alive with activity. An adult pair had produced a litter of eleven pups. This was astonishing since the average litter is five.
I spent the next several weeks at the den allowing this wildlife family to become used to my presence. As they became more accustomed to me, they resumed their normal activities and allowed me to photograph their natural behaviors.

The ultimate compliment a photographer can recieve came near the end of my visit. The mother would leave her babies sleeping at my feet while she went off to hunt for hours at a time.
These images are just a sampling of the most gracious gift I have ever recieved in the field.
