In deer herds, one of the social behaviors involves mutual grooming. On a cold October morning, I photographed these two white-talied does as they wrapped their necks around and groomed each other. Kensington Metro Park Lower Peninsula, Michigan		This image was awarded First Place in Animals Magazine Photo Contest, 1996. The grand prize was a trip to the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Canada, to photograph baby harp seals during the spring birthing season.
